If you use a gauge that’s too big, you’ll just have spent more cash than necessary. With that, if you end up stuck between different gauge sizes, always remember that bigger is better. So ensure you increase the conductor’s size to reduce/avoid potential voltage drops. Remember, power quality is affected depending on what you go for. Also, you can use 1-gauge aluminum or 3-gauge copper for your 100 amp circuits. With that, when you need wiring for your 100-amp sub panel that’s over 20 feet, consider getting a 1-gauge wire. Since longer wires need more power from the source to reach outlets, there will be more resistance. Electrical wires consume current because they have resistance. The length is a key factor when trying to size your electrical wiring. 100 Amp Sub Panel with a 200-feet Distance In other countries, they utilize the Imperial Standard. The United States, along with 65 other countries, uses AWG for measuring units. ![]() Do this by determining the devices you’ll use. So before choosing which to purchase, it’s best to consider the amount of electrical current it can handle. If you use the incorrect diameter, it could lead to issues in the long run. The reason is it determines the total current it can handle. ![]() If you’re asking if it’s important to get the correct diameter, the answer is yes. These numbers are inversely proportional to diameters, so the higher the number, the smaller its diameter. However, you might also see gauges like 3/0, 1/0, or 2/0. Some of the numbers you’ll find include 6 and 4. This is essentially the thickness of the wire but that term isn’t entirely accurate, which is why we say gauge. If you’ve visited the electrical section of any hardware shop, you’ll see that the gauge comes in different options. What is a Gauge?įor the gauge, it’s the diameter of the product that also tells you how much current it can carry and handle. The other is to add a control point for all circuits close to the area they serve. There are two reasons for installing a sub panel, one is you need more room for additional circuits. Simultaneously, the rest of your home can stay powered like usual. To avoid this, you can set up a separate sub-panel for your garage.Īlso, you can isolate the problem area and switch off its sub panel in any fault/short. For example, garage workshops have heavy loads on the main panel because of heavy types of machinery. However, it can be avoided by distributing sub-panels in different parts of your home.Īdditionally, sub-panels can isolate specific spots that have varying power usages. If you think about it, overloading is a serious hazard. You can also add a sub panel to prevent the main panel from becoming too crowded. Their primary goal is to make it easier for you to manage and organize the electrical circuits in your house. But what makes the sub panels different?īecause the main panel powers them, sub-panels are unique elements. From there, it instantly stops currents to prevent instances of fires. It helps protect your appliances from faulting/shorting.Īlso, it has fuses and circuit breakers to find electricity surcharges. If you’re wondering what its purpose is, it’s similar to the main panels. Instead, it gets power from the primary panel’s current. First up is the electrical sub panel: it’s like a little main panel without a direct connection to the power utility. ![]() If you’re just starting and aren’t familiar with the whole process, we’re here to help. But aside from knowing the correct wire size, let’s look at other essential elements to this question. But since we’re being specific here, you’ll need a 1-gauge copper wire for your 100 amp sub panel. Have you ever wondered what wire size for a 100 amp sub panel that’s 200 feet away? It’s an important question as just using any random wire size could lead to some serious issues.Ĭhoosing the correct size of wires for sub-panels is all about safety. ![]() ![]() ![]() The good news is, it shouldn’t sleep hot, like the other Purple pillows for sure don’t.īut as always, you decide what works for you, and there’s a trial period so you can return it. ![]() ![]() When left un-burnished, Venetian plaster has a matte finish that is rough and stone-like to the touch. Venetian plaster techniques include marmorino, scagliola, and sgraffito. Venetian plaster is a wall and ceiling finish consisting of plaster mixed with marble dust, applied with a spatula or trowel in thin, multiple layers, which are then burnished to create a smooth surface with the illusion of depth and texture. Scarpa not only adhered to the methods outlined by Vitruvius and Palladio but also introduced innovative techniques involving the utilization of animal hides and acrylic resins. However, in the 1950s, a notable Venetian builder named Carlo Scarpa played a pivotal role in revitalizing the use of Marmorino in contemporary construction. On occasion, pigments were added to the wet plaster to introduce vibrant hues.ĭuring the Baroque period, Venetian plaster experienced a decline in popularity, echoing the diminished prominence witnessed after the fall of the Roman Empire. The plastering process involved the initial application of a coarse layer of plaster known as "arricio," followed by subsequent layers of lime putty blended with powdered marble to achieve a smooth and polished surface. Palladio's architectural creations, although seemingly constructed from stone, were in fact composed of brick and stucco. Palladio, a renowned Renaissance architect, referred to the process as "Pietra d'Istria" since the plaster bore a striking resemblance to natural rocks such as marble, granite, and travertine commonly found near Venice. ![]() The Romans referred to the finished product as "Marmoratum Opus," meaning "smooth marble." The rediscovery of Venetian plaster can be attributed to the Renaissance period, characterized by a renewed interest in the ancient techniques of Rome. Vitruvius, who lived around 80-70 B.C., documented the process of manufacturing lime plaster in his renowned work "De architecture" or "Ten Books of Architecture." These methods were further elaborated upon by Pliny the Elder in his book "Natural History," dating back approximately 2,000 years. Venetian plaster, a distinctive type of wall covering, boasts a rich historical legacy that traces back to ancient times, with its origins linked to Pompeii and the subsequent Roman Empire. ![]() Historical accounts suggest that the Romans enforced a regulation stipulating that slaked lime could only be employed if it had aged for a minimum of three years. The slaked lime, a dense and moist substance, would then be stored in a designated pit for several months, or even years, to ensure complete hydration. The resulting substance, known as quicklime or lump-lime, was subsequently pulverized into a fine powder and combined with water in a process called "slaking." Through this procedure, a fundamental binding agent called " lime putty" was created and utilized for plastering purposes. Nevertheless, this transformative process, which involved converting limestone into calcium oxide, carbon dioxide, and steam, posed significant challenges due to the requirement of extremely high temperatures, reaching approximately 2200☏. The Greeks, in particular, made a remarkable discovery regarding the production of a special adhesive by subjecting limestone rocks to intense heat within expansive ovens. Throughout ancient times, lime was a widely employed material for constructing plaster on both interior and exterior walls. The technique was highly valued for its durability and aesthetic appeal, and it has continued to be used and refined throughout history. The history of polished plaster can be traced back to ancient times, with evidence of its use in ancient Egyptian, Roman, and Greek architecture. Polished plaster is usually sealed with a protective layer of wax. They are finished ( burnished) with a specialised steel trowel to a smooth glass-like sheen. Such plasters are usually applied over a primer and basecoat base, from one to four layers. Polished plaster is mainly used internally, on walls and ceilings, to give a finish that looks like polished marble, travertine, or limestone. A lime-based polished plaster may contain over 40% of marble powder. Polished plaster itself tends to consist of slaked lime, marble dust, and/or marble chips, which give each plaster its distinctive look. ![]() The term covers a whole range of decorative plaster finishes, from the very highly polished Venetian plaster and Marmorino to the rugged look of textured polished plasters. Polished plaster is a term for the finish of some plasters and for the description of new and updated forms of traditional Italian plaster finishes. ![]() ![]() ![]() Sadly, nothing has come from it so far, but with climate change and environmental issues at the forefront of the conversation, now would be the perfect time for a Captain Planet movie.Captain Marvel has been rumored to have a husband in The Marvels for months, but new MCU merchandise might have finally revealed his identity. These have included a dark and gritty take set in a post-apocalyptic world that even reached the design stage before being abandoned. ![]() Over the years there have been multiple attempts to adapt the show and bring Captain Planet and his Planeteers to the big-screen. The series spawned a line of action figures and toys, as well as video games, and even led to the creation of the environmental advocacy organization The Captain Planet Foundation. The series was co-created by media mogul Ted Turner, a noted environmentalist, with every episode being followed up with at least one "Planeteer Alert" clip, which was often connected to the plot, and would detail environmental-political and other social-political issues as well as how the viewer can contribute and be part of "the solution" rather than "the pollution".Ĭaptain Planet and the Planeteers ran from 1990 through 1996 on TBS and featured the voices of David Coburn, LeVar Burton, Joey Dedio, Kath Soucie, Janice Kawaye, Scott Menville, Whoopi Goldberg and Margot Kidder. As the show's theme song says, Captain Planet is "gonna take pollution down to zero" by defeating the villains, who include the likes of Hoggish Greedly, Dr. He works with the planeteers to defend Earth from pollution caused by criminals and villains. The animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers begins when Gaia, the spirit of the planet, assembles a diverse team of planeteers, who are able to combine their powers to summon an elemental warrior that takes on the appearance of superhero Captain Planet. The design resembles the Marvel Cinematic Universe's all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet, with each ring glowing brightly much like the Infinity Stones. His fist displays the five elemental rings - earth, fire, wind, water, and heart. Whilst the character in the television show had blue skin, it is unclear whether the artist's version does, with the artwork instead adding blue to what looks like a full-body superhero-style costume as opposed to the bizarre red bikini-like outfit that Captain Planet sports in the show.Īt the forefront of the poster, Captain Planet's clenched, gloved hand is adorned in red and gold ornate decorations complete with a gold planet emblem.
